Pollock will rest sore elbow after clean MRI

March 11th, 2016

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- D-backs outfielder A.J. Pollock said he is not concerned about the elbow soreness that has limited his playing time this spring.
Pollock was held out of the first few Cactus League games before playing in three games. He last appeared in a game this past Tuesday, and after the soreness returned, Pollock underwent an MRI on Wednesday.
D-backs manager Chip Hale said on Thursday that the MRI showed no structural issues and that Pollock would likely be out of the lineup until after Tuesday's off-day.

"It's fine, really," Pollock said. "It got a little sore. It felt great the first game back and then it just got a little sore, and they just wanted to take a precautionary look and check it off."
Even when Pollock returns to action he may be asked to temper his routine a bit.

"He takes too many tees and flips in the cage and throws too much, and his right arm is getting fatigued," Hale said. "We're going to dial it back and let him build it back up, and try to keep away from any extra use of it."
Pollock has said that he has gotten soreness in his elbow this time of year ever since suffering a right elbow fracture during Spring Training 2010. The injury caused him to miss that entire season.
Usually it clears up after a few days and Pollock thought after taking the initial time off this spring that he was OK.
"I felt really good and I thought I was past it," Pollock said. "I played the one game and it didn't feel awful, but it set me back a little bit. It probably was my own fault for doing too much."
