SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The D-backs signed veteran left-hander Jorge De La Rosa to a Minor League deal.
De La Rosa, 35, who spent the last nine seasons with the Rockies, has made 241 starts during his career. He is expected to pitch out of the bullpen for Arizona.
"First of all, to bring a guy like him into this camp is a pretty special moment. I know the front office worked hard to get him," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "They did a great job of bringing in a guy that's won over 100 games. His role will be strictly out of the bullpen."
De La Rosa, who owns a 101-84 record and 4.64 ERA, could earn $2.25 million if he makes the roster, and the contract includes $600,000 in relief incentives.
"He's going to compete," Lovullo said. "He's going to come in here, like everybody else is, and he's going to have to win a spot. It's a great job by our front office bringing in somebody like that."

Last season, De La Rosa finished with an 8-9 record, a 5.51 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 108 strikeouts in 27 appearances (24 starts) over 134 innings. It marked only the second time he finished with a sub-.500 record since joining the Rockies in 2008. De La Rosa also went 0-2 in '12 with only three appearances.
De La Rosa is atop the Rockies' career leaderboard in wins (86) and strikeouts (985). His .585 winning percentage -- with only nine of his 209 appearances coming in relief -- is the best for a Rockies starter. He has gone 53-20 at Coors Field.
It's been quite a journey back to Arizona for the veteran.
De La Rosa signed with the D-backs out of Monterrey, Mexico, in 1998. His contract was later purchased by Boston from Monterrey's Mexican League team in 2001 and traded back to Arizona as part of the deal that sent Curt Schilling to the Red Sox in '03. De La Rosa was traded to the Brewers a few days later. Milwaukee dealt him to Kansas City in '06, and he was traded to Colorado in '08.
