CINCINNATI -- Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy joined Washington's multi-homer parade Sunday, slugging a pair to right field in the 14-4 win over the Reds at Great American Ball Park. It was Murphy's first multi-homer game of the season and the fourth of his career.
Murphy's first homer came in the first inning. On a 1-0 fastball from Reds starter Homer Bailey, he lifted the ball into the seats for a two-run home run that opened the scoring. The ball traveled just 356 feet and had a 12 percent chance of being a hit, as projected by Statcast™.
In the fifth, he hit a three-run shot that sparked a five-run inning for Washington.

Bryce Harper hit two home runs in the Nationals' 5-0 win over Cincinnati on Friday, and Anthony Rendon followed with two dingers, including a grand slam, in Saturday night's 10-7 victory. Sunday marked the third time in franchise history the Nationals had three individual multi-homer games in a row, and the first time it had been done by three different players.

"Everybody on the bench and in the starting lineup can hit the ball," Nationals starter Tanner Roark said Sunday. "And that's what they've shown the past couple games, coming right out of the gates and swinging the bat and hitting the ball well. They're waiting for their pitches and putting good swings on them."
The middle of Washington's order has been particularly effective this series. In the three games since the All-Star break, Murphy, Rendon and Harper are a combined 17-for-32 with seven home runs and 20 RBIs.
"I think the guys appreciated the rest, and it seems like we're swinging the bats well right now," Murphy said. "We've definitely got a lot of energy."
