Diamondbacks Spring Training: Everything you need to know

The Diamondbacks will open their 29th Spring Training this week, and their 16th at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, hoping for a return to the postseason after narrowly missing out on a National League Wild Card berth the past two seasons.

Here's what you need to know for the weeks ahead:

When is the first workout for pitchers and catchers?
Diamondbacks players have been at Salt River Fields for weeks now, but the first official workout for pitchers and catchers will be on Tuesday.

What is the date of the first full-squad workout?
The full squad will go through its first workout next Sunday.

Where is the team’s facility?
Salt River Fields at Talking Stick is located at 7555 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale, Ariz.

Can fans attend workouts?
Beginning Tuesday, workouts are open to the public from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. MST. Fans can park in the Desert Lot on the north side of the complex, which is best accessed via 90th Street off Via de Ventura. Who are some new faces fans should know?
It’s not really a new face, but right-hander Merrill Kelly returns to the Diamondbacks after being dealt to the Rangers at last year’s Trade Deadline. In addition, the team also signed right-handers Michael Soroka, Taylor Clarke and Jonathan Loáisiga and first baseman Carlos Santana.

Who are some of the top prospects invited to Major League camp?
Outfielder Ryan Waldschmidt, ranked as the organization’s top prospect by MLB Pipeline, highlights a list of prospects coming to camp. Left-handers Kohl Drake (No. 6) and Mitch Bratt (No. 9), who both came over in the Kelly deal, will be in camp. Infielder Tommy Troy (No. 5) and outfielder Druw Jones (No. 14) will also be there.

When is the team’s first Cactus League game?
The Diamondbacks open their spring schedule against the Rockies at Salt River Fields on Feb. 20 at 1:10 p.m. MST.

What are a few other notable spring games?
The Diamondbacks will play host to Team Mexico before the World Baseball Classic in an exhibition game on March 3 at 1:10 p.m. MST. They will get their first look at the World Series champion Dodgers on Feb. 25 at Salt River Fields, and they will host the Cubs on March 18.

What is Spring Breakout and when is the game?
A team of the Diamondbacks' top prospects will play the Rockies' top prospects March 21 at 5 p.m. MST at Salt River Fields. Fans buying tickets for that afternoon’s game against the Reds at Salt River Fields will also get a ticket for Spring Breakout.

Will there be any additional exhibitions before the regular season?
As they do each year, the Diamondbacks will play a pair of exhibition games at Chase Field just prior to Opening Day. This year, they will take on the Guardians on March 23 at 6:40 p.m. MST and on March 24 at 12:40 p.m. MST.

What are the details for Opening Day?
The Diamondbacks open the regular season March 26 against the Dodgers in Los Angeles at 5:30 p.m. MST. It’s the first of a three-game series with the Dodgers before Arizona returns home for a seven-game homestand against the Tigers and Braves.
