Fields had been optioned to Oklahoma City on Friday, when the team activated reliever Pedro Baez from the 10-day disabled list.

Dayton pitched in the past two games, including a hitless inning Monday night, and he likely would have been unavailable to pitch Tuesday night. He has allowed only two hits in 21 at-bats this year.

The Dodgers' bullpen has pitched 15 innings in the past three games. Luis Avilan is now the lone lefty in the bullpen.
