Dodgers reinstate Coleman, option Avilan

April 25th, 2016

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers reinstated right-hander Louis Coleman from the bereavement list on Monday and optioned left-hander Luis Avilan to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Coleman, who was placed on the bereavement list Thursday following the death of his grandfather, will rejoin the bullpen after four games away from the team. The right-hander has struggled so far this season, allowing runs in his last three appearances and possessing a 7.20 ERA.
Avilan was unable to impress in his short stint with the Major League club. Of the seven batters the 26-year-old faced across three appearances this weekend, five reached base and three scored.
Avilan's status as the third southpaw in the Dodgers' bullpen behind J.P. Howell and Adam Liberatore also made him expendable.
