Puig OK after crashing into wall on HR

Roberts removes Dodgers right fielder as a precaution

June 30th, 2016

MILWAUKEE -- Yasiel Puig is not expected to miss a game, said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who removed the right fielder in the eighth inning of a 7-0 loss to the Brewers on Wednesday night after he crashed into the fence chasing a Ryan Braun home run.
Roberts said Puig sustained a minor left knee contusion.
"Where we were at in the game, I felt to get him out and not play last half on defense was best," Roberts said. "Puig will be there [Wednesday]."
After hitting the fence, Puig stood on the field for a few moments bent over with his hands on knees. He remained in the outfield to finish the inning and led off the eighth. But he limped badly down the first-base line on a grounder to shortstop and was replaced for the bottom of the eighth.
Puig's scare came one game after center fielder Joc Pederson bruised the A/C joint of his right shoulder running into the fence while making a spectacular catch off a drive by Chris Carter.
Trayce Thompson started in center field Wednesday night in place of Pederson and Scott Van Slyke moved off first base to take over for Puig, with Justin Turner moving from third to first and Chris Taylor playing third.
