Draft prospect scales wall to bring back HR

June 7th, 2021

If South Alabama outfielder Ethan Wilson wasn’t a first-round talent before, his incredible wall-scaling catch on Monday might put him over the top in next month’s MLB Draft.

Wilson made a last-minute addition to his Draft highlight reel, robbing USF’s Nick Gonzalez of a two-run homer in the Gainesville Regional, part of the road to the College World Series.

The sensational play came in the top of the third inning after Gonzalez crushed a fly ball to left-center field. The left-handed Wilson followed the ball to the warning track, perfectly timed his leap and used the fence to boost himself up before reaching over the wall to bring back Gonzalez’s blast with a backhanded snag.

The 21-year-old Wilson is MLB Pipeline's No. 32 prospect for the 2021 Draft, which is scheduled for July 11-13.
