Red Sox daily fantasy picks, values for Sept. 17

September 17th, 2021

The Boston Red Sox next game on Friday Sept. 17, is part of the DraftKings main fantasy baseball slate, and it’ll begin their home series against the Baltimore Orioles. The pitching matchup looks like an extremely favorable one for Boston, with Chris Sale ($9,500) getting activated from the COVID-19 list to face Orioles starter Keegan Akin ($5,100). Sale has only made five starts in 2021, with three good games to start his season before having two tough outings against the Tampa Bay Rays. Getting a shot at the Orioles should mean a bounce-back for Boston’s ace, as Baltimore just yielded double-digit strikeouts in consecutive games to New York Yankees’ starters Nestor Cortes Jr. and Jordan Montgomery.

The matchup between the Red Sox offense and Akin will be the second of the 2021 season, and they scored three runs off of him in four innings the first time around. The majority of the Red Sox hitters are priced between $4,000 and $5,000, with Kyle Schwarber ($5,000) leading the way. The Red Sox have started to hit well in their last few games, with their series against the Seattle Mariners producing eight and nine runs respectively in Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s games. Both of those wins were fueled by a balanced attack, as no hitter on the team scored more than 18 fantasy points in either game.
