Volquez feels good after Minor League outing

March 24th, 2016

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Royals right-hander Edinson Volquez, a candidate to start Opening Day, said he felt fine a day after throwing an 82-pitch Minor League game on Wednesday.
Volquez had been feeling fatigue in his arm prior to the recent trip to San Antonio and the Royals decided to skip him in the spring rotation for two starts.
"I feel good," Volquez said. "My velocity is back."

Volquez gave up four runs over six innings in the Minor League start.
"My tempo was good," Volquez said. "I was a little off the first couple of innings. But I came back and the pitches were really good."
Volquez likely will make his last Spring Training start on Monday.
And after that, Opening Day?
"I don't know," Volquez said, smiling. "I think [manager Ned Yost] will tell you guys Saturday. It could be [Yordano] Ventura. Who knows? Maybe he's got a surprise."
