ARLINGTON -- Elvis Andrus has been selected as the Rangers Player of the Year and will be honored at the Dr Pepper Texas Rangers Award Dinner.
The dinner will be take place on Friday, Jan. 19, at Gilley's Dallas. Tickets are available at www.texasrangers.com/awards. Tickets are $110.00 each with tables of 10 also available. Net proceeds benefit the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.
This is the first time Andrus has been honored as the Rangers Player of the Year. The last time a shortstop has received the award was Michael Young in 2007.
Andrus was honored after hitting .297 with career highs of 100 runs scored, 191 hits, 44 doubles, 22 home runs and 88 RBIs. He was a finalist for the Rawlings Gold Glove at shortstop.
Crook, Webb promoted
The Rangers have promoted Bobby Crook to special assignment crosschecker in their amateur scouting department and Mitchell Webb to professional scout.
Crook has served four years as an area scout covering Arkansas, Oklahoma, and North Texas after five seasons as manager of amateur scouting in the baseball operations department. He will entering in his 15th year in the organization.
Webb has spent six seasons in the organization as a video coordinator (2012-14) and advance scout (2015-17).

• Josh Simpson has been transferred to North Texas area scout and Levi Lacey has been hired as Four Corners area scout in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. Demond Smith has been hired as Midwest Regional crosschecker and Randy Taylor returned to his area role in South Texas.
 • Willy Espinal has been promoted to Dominican supervisor and Jhonny Gomez has been promoted to Venezuelan supervisor on the international side.
• Hajime Watabe has been promoted to manager of Pacific Rim operations, Trey Hendricks has been hired as international crosschecker and Moises De La Mota has been hired as area scout in the Dominican Republic.
