Erick Fedde cruised his way through six dominant innings in Double-A Harrisburg's 5-4 win over Bowie on Wednesday.
The Nationals' No. 4 prospect (No. 82 overall) set a career high with 12 strikeouts and gave up just one run on four hits.
When he wasn't racking up the strikeouts, the 23-year-old was able to keep the ball low in the zone, throwing 62 of his 99 pitches for strikes and recording five of the remaining six outs via ground balls.
"My slider was just the best it's been in my career," Fedde told MiLB.com. "I got a ton of swing-and-misses on it. I threw some good changeups and fastballs to keep guys off balance.
"I think, in some of my other starts, I wasn't keeping guys off balance. I think there was one start where I threw a ton of fastballs in a row and guys at this level are too good to do that to. I've been trying to be a little too perfect and getting in bad counts. Today, I was a lot better at just attacking hitters and keeping myself in good situations."
Double-A ball is still relatively new for Fedde, who was promoted on Aug. 7 and made his debut three days later, but the right-hander appears to be adjusting well.
Fedde has gone six or more innings while allowing one earned run or none in three of his five starts.

• Lewis Brinson (Brewers' No. 2, No. 16 overall) bookended the month of August with a pair of four-hit games for Triple-A Colorado Springs. Brinson, whom the Brewers acquired on Aug. 1, went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, concluding a month in which he hit .425 in 19 games.

• Jorge Alfaro (Phillies' No. 4, No. 63 overall) put together his third four-hit game of the year and homered for the second time in as many days for Double-A Reading. The Phillies' catching prospect went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, bringing his average to .292 in 94 games.

• Yairo Munoz (Athletics' No. 7) went deep for the second time in as many days for Double-A Midland. Munoz went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and now has four RBIs over his past two games.
• Another day, another home run for Rowdy Tellez (Blue Jays' No. 9). The 21-year-old has hit four homers over the past six games after going deep in a 2-for-3 game with Double-A New Hampshire. Tellez has hit a career-high 21 homers in 119 games this season.

• Mike Soroka (Braves' No. 7) threw a season-high 104 pitches (76 strikes) and struck out a season-high nine for Class A Rome. The 19-year-old was dominant through seven innings, giving up one earned run on three hits.
• Brett Phillips (Brewers' No. 8) provided all the offense in Double-A Biloxi's 2-0 win over Jackson. Phillips, who finished 1-for-3, hit a two-run homer in the first inning of the pitchers' duel. Phillips has 16 homers this year, including two in the past four games.

• For the fifth time this season, Sandy Alcantara (Cardinals' No. 9) notched double-digit strikeouts for Class A Advanced Palm Beach. The 20-year-old struck out 10 and gave up three hits in seven solid innings.
• Jeimer Candelario (Cubs' No. 3) continued his torrid stretch with a 3-for-5 day for Triple-A Iowa. Candelario hit .358 in 28 August games and has hits in 16 of his past 17 games.
• Dylan Cozens (Phillies' No. 7) is an RBI machine. The 23-year-old went 3-for-4 with four driven in for Double-A Reading, bringing his total to 120 in 129 games. Cozens has posted four or more RBIs in eight games this season and tied Greg Luzinski's Reading record, set in 1970, for most RBIs in a season.

"The stadium put the countdown on the big screen, so I knew about tying the record," Cozens told MiLB.com. "I'm happy I was able to get the job done. It was a good night."
• Sam Howard (Rockies' No. 20) has gone six or more innings in four consecutive starts, including the seven scoreless frames he threw for Double-A Hartford. The left-hander gave up a walk and seven hits, but he struck out five and was able to navigate his way out of trouble and keep Richmond off the board.
• Garrett Davila (Royals' No. 20) improved to 7-0 with another strong start for Rookie-level Burlington. The 19-year-old lefty gave up four hits and threw six scoreless innings for the second consecutive start.
• Artie Lewicki (Tigers' No. 23) spun his longest start of the season for Double-A Erie. The 24-year-old gave up one run on three hits and notched seven strikeouts in his 16th game (14 starts) of the season.
• Jordan Montgomery (Yankees' No. 20) set a Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes/Barre record with 29 2/3 scoreless innings during his start. The 23-year-old lefty eventually gave up two earned runs, the first he's allowed since Aug. 2, on six hits in six innings.
• Yankees' No. 27 Donny Sands drove in four runs, a season high, and hit his second homer of the season for Rookie-Level Pulaski. Sands, an eighth-round pick in 2015, finished 2-for-3.
