CHICAGO -- A fan who fell from the right-field stands at Rate Field into the visiting Royals bullpen during the White Sox 6-5 victory Wednesday night is doing better, according to an official White Sox statement prior to Thursday’s contest.

“We reached out to the fan to check on his well-being, and his friend was able to share a positive report. The entire White Sox organization and clubhouse are wishing him a full and speedy recovery,” said the statement.

Wednesday’s game was delayed in the fourth inning to allow White Sox personnel to treat the fan who had fallen. The fan was transported to a local hospital for additional treatment.

“Baseball’s just a game when it comes to that stuff, in my mind,” said Royals reliever Nick Mears on Wednesday night. “Obviously human lives are something different.

“So kind of just creating space for all of the people to come in and try to help him out. Trying to make sure that he had the best care that he could get in that moment was kind of our priority.”
