BALTIMORE -- A day later, the fan that has the ball Albert Pujols hit out of Comerica Park for his 2,000th career RBI appears to have changed his mind.

Pujols, on the other hand, hasn’t.

"I slept on it," Ely Hydes told The Detroit News over the phone on Friday night. "All I ever wanted was to sleep on it. I slept on it and I woke up and I think [Pujols] is a class act.

"I reconsidered. One-hundred percent, I'm either going to give it to Pujols or to the Hall of Fame ... I don’t want any money.”

After the Angels’ 8-3 win over the Orioles on Friday night, Pujols said he should do the latter.

“I heard that the guy wanted to give it back, but he can keep it,” Pujols said. “I said what I had to say yesterday. I think he deserves it. He’s a fan. Or he can give it to the Hall of Fame.”

Hydes scurried to Pujols’ solo home run in the third inning of the Angels' 13-0 win on Thursday, and was first to reach it after it landed in the left-field seats.

As of late Friday evening, the Angels had yet to hear from Hydes, with a club executive having reached out to him via email.

Hydes said he left Comerica Park on Thursday with the intention of gathering his thoughts before making a decision. He also said he does not want any money in exchange for the ball.
