Fantasy411 chat: Sizing up Keuchel

May 23rd, 2016

MLB.com fantasy expert Fred Zinkie fielded questions from fans during a live Twitter chat (at @fantasy411) on Monday. Read through the best of the Q&A below. Questions and answers have been edited for clarity.
@Gadv_LeFrenchy: Is it time to drop Dallas Keuchel?
Fred Zinkie: Bench him for now. Don't drop him.
@DN1CE23: Please rank these starters -- Alex Wood, Adam Conley, Nathan Karns.
Zinkie: Karns, Wood, Conley. Wood has great upside, but he is inconsistent. I expect Karns to be the most consistent of the trio.
@JasonClark1907: Would you rather own Matt Wieters or Nick Hundley for the rest of the season?
Zinkie: Wieters. He has shown signs of getting on track in recent games.
@tommyc325: At first base, would you rather own Justin Bour, Prince Fielder or Chris Carter?
Zinkie: I would take Carter. He can provide the most counting stats. Bour would be my second choice.
@pdk233: Should I drop Santiago Casilla or Fernando Rodney for Brad Boxberger?
Zinkie: It is hard to drop Rodney right now, but I would drop him for Boxberger.
@atwalekLAB: Is Sonny Gray worth keeping at this point?
Zinkie: Yes, definitely. He could be an impactful starter once again by the end of June.
@dsep84: Would you trade Rick Porcello for any Dallas Keuchel, Sonny Gray or Matt Harvey?
Zinkie: I would trade him for any of the three. Of the three, I prefer Harvey.
@Snack_TimeFS: What should I do with Carlos Gomez?
Zinkie: You should drop him in a mixed league.
@TheHotCorner7: Is Alex Reyes a must-stash player?
Zinkie: He is a stash option, but he could end up working as a reliever late this season. They don't have a rotation opening.
@TheRealMamba_dc: Should I drop Justin Upton?
Zinkie: No. He has too much potential. But it would be great to keep him on your bench for now.
@PMiklich: Should I drop Billy Hamilton for Leonys Martin?
Zinkie: Yes, you can make that switch. Martin is offering an exciting blend of power and speed.
@Mike_Santulli: Would you rather own Brandon Drury or Melvin Upton Jr.?
Zinkie: Upton. His blend of power and speed makes him very valuable when he is hitting well.
@EasyMoney81: Would you rather own Ketel Marte or Jhonny Peralta?
Zinkie: Marte. He is not expected to miss a significant amount of time.
@Shiv1537: Is Kyle Hendricks a relevant rotation option in a 10-team league?
Zinkie: Yes, he is 10-team relevant. He should be used in almost all starts in that format.
@ljdobson9: What should I do with Michael Wacha and Adam Wainwright?
Zinkie: In a shallow league, bench them for now. Of the two, I'm more optimistic on Wacha.
@acsguy: What kind of starter would you take in exchange for Dallas Keuchel?
Zinkie: Try this plan: float his name to several owners. Find out which one still believes in him. Then go from there.
@alonaby9: Is it time to drop Kenta Maeda?
Zinkie: No, he can still be used in mixed leagues. But the sell-high window is closed.
@MRubinstein22: I'm thinking of picking up Tyler Chatwood. Is this a good idea?
Zinkie: In a mixed league, it likely isn't worth it. There is so much downside for a Rockies' starter.
@TheCalebHundley: Would you rather own Dallas Keuchel or Joe Ross?
Zinkie: I would rather own Ross. Less risk at the moment.
@JokeDelhomme: For the rest of the season, would you rather own Wilson Ramos, J.T. Realmuto or Stephen Vogt?
Zinkie: Realmuto. His ability to pick up a few steals gives him added value.
@bent0dd: Would you rather own Jonathan Villar or Elvis Andrus?
Zinkie: Villar. It's very close. Villar is riskier, as his role is less secure.
@Itslegend380: Where do you rank Noah Syndergaard?
Zinkie: He is a top-10 starter. A potential innings cap keeps him out of the top-5.
