The Padres have extended their working relationships with their two, full-season, Single-A affiliates through the end of the 2018 season.
Fort Wayne, which set its all-time single-season attendance record (413,701) Friday night, has been in the Padres' system since the 1999 season. Park View Field in Fort Wayne is considered one of the top ballparks in the minor leagues. Fort Wayne plays in the Midwest League.
Advanced Single-A Lake Elsinore has been the Padres representative in the California League since 2001.
The Padres association with Fort Wayne is the longest affiliation in the history of the Padres' minor league system. The association with Lake Elsinore will be the second-longest when this extension ends.
Meanwhile, right-handed starter Enyel De Los Santos, 20, allowed three hits and no walks with seven strikeouts over six scoreless innings at Lake Elsinore Friday night. De Los Santos, who was acquired from Seattle last winter in the trade that sent reliever Joaquin Benoit to the Mariners, improved to 5-3 and lowered his earned run average to 4.35 as the Storm defeated High Desert to move to within a win of .500.
Triple-A El Paso bolstered its roster for the Pacific Coast League playoffs by promoting center fielder Franchy Cordero (.306) and left-handed reliever Kyle McGrath from Double-A San Antonio. Outfielder Auston Bousfield was transferred from El Paso to Double-A San Antonio and right-handed reliever Leonel Campos was recalled by the Padres from El Paso. Left-handed reliever Brad Wieck was activated from San Antonio's seven-day disabled list.
