Twenty-year-old right-handers Jacob Nix and Enyel De Los Santos combined for a four-hit shutout Wednesday as Class A Fort Wayne (11-9) scored a 1-0 win over Peoria in Fort Wayne.
The 6-foot-4 Nix, the third-round pick of the Padres last June, allowed two hits with four strikeouts in four innings to lower his ERA to 3.86.
The 6-foot-3 De Los Santos, who was acquired from Seattle last offseason in the trade that sent reliever Joaquin Benoit to the Mariners, allowed two hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings to even his record at 1-1 and lower his ERA to 2.70.
Left fielder Rod Boykin (.213), drew a walk, moved to second on a single by center fielder Michael Gettys, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out by third baseman Carlos Belen for the game's lone run.
