
Since September 1, infielder Ty France leads the Padres with five homers and 12 RBIs, going 11-for-42 (.262) with a .643 slugging percentage and a .962 OPS.
And since he was promoted from Triple-A El Paso on Sept. 2, infielder Seth Mejias-Brean is 6-for-20 with two doubles, two decisive home runs, five RBIs, a .700 slugging percentage and a 1.064 OPS.
Meanwhile, since Sept. 2, Manny Machado and Eric Hosmer, respectively the 3-4 hitters in the Padres lineup, are a combined 17-for-126 with two doubles, three homers and 13 RBIs with 42 strikeouts. And they are just two of several key Padres hitters struggling to reach the finish line.
Hosmer is 10-for-66 (.152) with two doubles, a homer and seven RBIs with 28 strikeouts. Machado is 7-for-60 (.117) with two homers, six RBIs with 11 walks and 14 strikeouts. On Sunday, Machado and Hosmer were both out of the starting lineup for the first time this season.

-- Wil Myers is 0-for-18 in his last six games with 11 strikeouts . . . since going 5-for-12 in three games at Coors Field with three doubles, a homer and four RBIs.
-- Hunter Renfroe, who did battle ankle and elbow issues for much of September, is 4-for-39 (.103) since Aug. 25, although he has homered in two of his last four starts. He has struck out 20 times since Aug. 25 while drawing eight walks.
-- Catcher Austin Hedges is 4-for-43 this month (.093) with one home run and three RBIs as his batting average has plunged to .179 – its lowest point since May 19.
While Hosmer is three RBIs shy of 100, Machado is posed to have the lowest offensive totals of his eight-season Major League career.

-- During a 1-5 run that ended with Mejias-Brean’s, 10th-inning, two-run, walk-off homer Sunday, the Padres went through a season-long, six-game streak during which they never scored more than two runs in a game. During the 54 innings in those six games, the Padres scored seven runs while hitting .146 (27-for-185) while strikeout out 73 times.
-- Sunday’s walk-off win was the Padres fifth of the season. They are now 5-7 in extra-inning games.
-- C Francisco Mejía had an RBI, pinch-hit single Sunday. He is now 5-for-15 as a pinch-hitter this season with two doubles and three RBIs.
