Freeman earns NL Player of Month honors
October 3rd, 2016
Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman ended his 2016 season as the National League Player of the Month for September/October.
Freeman's Major League-best 30-game hitting streak ended Thursday, while his 48-game on-base streak -- also a 2016 Major League-best -- ended the following day.
Freeman hit .367/.462/.673 with seven home runs and 25 RBIs in 27 games over the final month-plus, helping lead the Braves to an 18-9 finish that concluded with a series victory over the Tigers in the final games at Turner Field.
This is the first-ever monthly honor for Freeman, who was named NL Player of the Week for the weeks of Sept. 4 and Sept. 25.
