Mitchell departs Little League Classic with bruised forearm after HBP

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Brewers center fielder was hit by a pitch on the right forearm after squaring to bunt in the fourth inning of Milwaukee's 4-2 loss to the Braves in Sunday’s Little League Classic, and had to leave the game.

Rookie outfielder Luis Lara took over on defense in the fifth for Mitchell, a 27-year-old 2020 first-round Draft pick whose health this season has been a leading factor in his breakout. He’s already played in a career-high 118 games and has set career highs in runs (54), home runs (nine), RBIs (54) and stolen bases (12).

Historic Bowman Field hosts only one Major League game per year, but it was outfitted for this event with all of the medical facilities a team would need. The Brewers’ head physician, Dr. William Raasch, was along for the trip.

Initial testing suggested it was just a bruise, the Brewers said.
