SAN FRANCISCO -- A day after delivering the game-winning hit in the 10th inning Tuesday, Giants third baseman Eduardo Nunez was out of the lineup with some minor hamstring tightness, manager Bruce Bochy said.
Nunez rejoined the team following the All-Star break. He had missed 18 games with a left hamstring strain.
Bochy indicated that Nunez's rest was more of a precaution; he was available for a potential double-switch Wednesday.
"He said he could feel it yesterday. That's why a couple times he wasn't quite going full speed," Bochy said before Wednesday's game. "He had orders to take it easy, if necessary."
Nunez -- aside from his offensive productivity -- has been part of recent speculation as the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline nears. USA Today reported Wednesday morning that the Boston Red Sox have their eye on Nunez, "who has been made available."
Nunez, set to become a free agent after the 2017 season, entered Wednesday having reached safely in 34 of his previous 35 games, posting a .358 on-base percentage with 24 runs scored. His walk-off hit Tuesday night was the first of his five-year Major League career.
Jones hit by pitch, again
Infielder Ryder Jones, who was activated from the DL on Monday and optioned to Triple-A Sacramento, was again hit by a pitch during Tuesday's game against El-Paso. Jones was previously sidelined with a right wrist contusion.

Bochy said Jones was hit on the opposite wrist, though. Jones was drilled during San Francisco's July 1 game.
"I think he's OK," Bochy said. "I think he'll be back in there. ... OK to go today or tomorrow."
Pence struggling offensively
July has not been kind to Hunter Pence.
Pence entered Wednesday with a slash line of .145/.190/.236, to go with 14 strikeouts, in 13 games this month. Bochy said Pence is working to regain his touch at the plate.
"Right now, he's trying to get comfortable up there," Bochy said. "He's not quite there since we came off the break. ... The biggest thing with him is trying to stay in the strike zone as much as he can. He is a guy that expands. You just don't want to overdo it."
