SF to be 1st MLB team to don pride colors

June 2nd, 2021

The Giants announced on Tuesday that they will become the first Major League team to incorporate pride colors into their on-field uniforms when they host the Cubs on Saturday at Oracle Park.

In honor of the LGBTQ+ community, the Giants will celebrate Pride Day by wearing an "SF" logo pride patch on the right sleeve of their uniforms, as well as a custom cap incorporating pride colors into the logo.

“I’m very proud that the San Francisco Giants are taking this step," San Francisco manager Gabe Kapler said. "I’m very, very proud to be a part of it, and looking forward to the impact and the support that we can provide for the LGBTQ+ community.”

The special uniforms are part of SF Pride Day presented by Peet's Coffee at Oracle Park. Fans can purchase special-event tickets to Saturday's game that include a limited-edition "SF Pride" T-shirt. Partial proceeds from each of those special-event tickets will be donated to San Francisco Pride.

“We are extremely proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community as we kick off one of the best annual celebrations in San Francisco by paying honor to the countless achievements and contributions of all those who identify as LGBTQ+ and are allies of the LGBTQ+ community,” Giants CEO Larry Baer said in a statement released by the team.
