CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Yankees third baseman Chase Headley ripped a three-run home run to right field Friday afternoon in a 5-0 victory over the Phillies in a Grapefruit League game at Spectrum Field.
Headley homered against Phillies right-hander Clay Buchholz, who is very familiar to the Yankees. He spent the first 10 years of his big league career with the Red Sox, who traded him to Philadelphia in December. Headley is 4-for-12 with two doubles and one home run in his regular-season career against Buchholz.
"I felt better today; I felt like my swings were much better, like my timing was much better," Headley said. "It was a step in the right direction, for sure."

Buchholz allowed four hits, three runs, one walk and struck out six in 3 1/3 innings. He has allowed seven runs in 8 1/3 innings this spring. The Phillies had the bases loaded three times, but could not score. They went 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left 17 runners on base.
"We might have used up our runs in Lakeland the other day," said Phillies manager Pete Mackanin, referring to Tuesday's 11-6 victory over the Tigers. "Little by little, we're getting there. It takes time for some guys."

Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge hit a solo homer to right field in the sixth inning to hand the Yankees a 5-0 lead. It was his second homer of the spring. Chad Green went two scoreless innings in a spot start.
"I'm enjoying it," Judge said. "I think the biggest thing for me that I'm trying to do is just be consistent; consistently swing at the right pitches, get on base, make contact. So far, I feel like I've been doing that."
Tommy Joseph went 2-for-2 after pinch-hitting for Chris Coghlan, while Rhys Hoskins doubled as part of a 2-for-2 day to pace the quiet Phils offense.

Phillies: The Phillies make the short trip to Dunedin, Fla., to play the Blue Jays in a Grapefruit League game at 1:07 p.m. Saturday at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Right-hander Vince Velasquez (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his second start of the spring. He allowed one hit and struck out one in two innings last week against the Rays.
