Play HRDX in the MLB Derby mobile game

July 5th, 2022

Can't wait for the inaugural FTX MLB Home Run Derby X event in London next week? Bummed that you weren't selected to suit up for any of the clubs? Tired of staring at your phone all day and not hitting dingers? Well, buddy, do I have some good news for you.

Available now and going until July 10, MLB Derby players (available on iOS and Android) will be able to claim and play with four of the upcoming HRDX participants for free. Even better, it's the first time that an MLB video game features realistically rendered women's baseball and softball players.

Simply load up the app and check your in-game inbox and you'll be able to play with former Yankees slugger Nick Swisher, US Women's National Team player Alex Hugo (representing the Cubs), professional softball catcher Erika Piancastelli (Yankees) and Wild Card Liv Cooke (Red Sox), a professional soccer freestyler.

Not only that, but Crystal Palace Park -- the site of London's HRDX event -- is a playable stadium, as well. Just be prepare for a little extra challenge at this ballpark -- and not just because you're surrounded by trees in the middle of a picaresque park. Because the foul lines have been brought in to match the HRDX dimensions, it's a bit trickier to keep the ball in fair territory.

Though these players can only be claimed for a limited time, don't worry: Once they're on your roster, you can play with them for as long as you'd like. And be sure to check back as Paige Halstead (Red Sox) and Ashton Lansdell (Dodgers) will be available later on in the tour.
