PHOENIX -- Dodgers infielder Howie Kendrick was able to take batting and fielding practice on Wednesday, a sign that the slight groin tightness that forced him to be scratched from Monday's game is minor.
Manager Dave Roberts said Kendrick still had not needed an MRI, and the club was hopeful that Kendrick could return to games in the next few days, although he still had not resumed running.
Infielder Alex Guerrero also moved closer to a return to games after irritating his left knee. He also hit and fielded in Wednesday's drills.

Pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu played catch for the third consecutive day after being shut down for a week to rest his surgically repaired left shoulder.
Justin Turner continued to play in Minor League games as he is nursed back slowly from knee surgery.
And left-hander Julio Urias, the Dodgers' top pitching prospect, threw a light bullpen session on Wednesday as a tuneup for his first Cactus League appearance on Friday.
