Although he's since topped it with his first career homer this season, Bartolo Colon previously displayed his hitting prowess in a moment immortalized by WOR broadcaster Howie Rose.
Against the Marlins on May 31, 2015, Colon lined a double that rolled to the warning track. As he slowly made his way into second, Rose quipped "they're timing Colon with a sun dial."
"When you're a broadcaster, you have a certain cadence and a pace that you're used to when a guy hits the ball down the line or up the gap," Rose said. "This one took a little longer, so we had time to think of stuff."
It's for that call that Rose was honored with the Esurance MLB Award for Best Call, Radio, which he accepted Friday.
"It's quite an honor, but I owe it all to Bartolo, obviously," Rose said. "Without him this never would have happened."
The Esurance MLB Awards annually honor Major League Baseball's greatest achievements as part of an industry-wide balloting process that includes five components, each of which accounts for 20 percent of the overall vote: media, front-office personnel, retired MLB players, fans at MLB.com and Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) voters.
Individual awards were presented for 22 separate categories, including Best Major Leaguer, Everyday Player, Bounceback Player, Social Media Personality and Postseason Performer. Winners were also recognized for the year's Best Offensive Play, Defensive Play, Moment, Single-Game Performance, Social Media Post, Celebrity Fan and Fan Catch.
Nominees were judged on their bodies of work from the entire year -- from Opening Day through the postseason -- and selected after a careful review of all 30 clubs. Winners in all 24 categories receive a Greatness in Baseball Yearly (GIBBY) trophy.
This was the second Esurance MLB Award for the Mets, who also won for Best Social Media Post.
As for this season's awards, don't be surprised if Colon's bat resurfaces for his home run in San Diego.
"That might have been the grandaddy of them all," Rose said.
