Hunter Greene is heading back to the 15-day injured list with soreness in his right elbow, the Reds announced on Wednesday. Right-hander Luis Mey was recalled from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move.

Greene had recently returned at the beginning of July from a stint on the injured list after undergoing surgery to remove bone chips in his elbow. He made five starts to mixed results, recording a 6.83 ERA, though he flashed his best stuff in a seven-inning scoreless outing against the Cubs in which he struck out 12.

Last season, Greene was limited to 19 starts and 107 2/3 innings after missing nearly three months on the injured list with a Grade 1 strain of his right groin. He was an All-Star in 2024, posting a 2.75 ERA with 169 strikeouts over 150 1/3 innings.
