Tribe lands righty Lockett in trade with Padres

November 20th, 2018

The Indians and Padres made a minor trade in advance of Tuesday's Rule 5 Draft deadline.
Cleveland acquired right-hander from San Diego in exchange for right-hander Ignacio Feliz. Lockett is now on the Tribe's 40-man roster, while the Padres freed up a roster spot with the move and landed a younger prospect.
Lockett, 24, spent most of 2018 with Triple-A El Paso. He had a 4.73 ERA with 118 strikeouts against 33 walks in 133 1/3 innings. He made three spot starts in San Diego, posting a 9.60 ERA. He was the Padres' Minor League Pitcher of the Year in '16 and a fourth-round Draft pick in 2012.
Feliz, 19, was signed out of the Dominican Republic at age 17 and made 10 starts for the organization in the Rookie-level Arizona League this summer, posting a 3.00 ERA in 10 starts.
