DETROIT -- Indians starter Josh Tomlin (8-9) was on the disabled list for more than a month with a strained left hamstring. He was beginning to feel a little distanced from his team, especially with the Tribe rolling on a double-digit win streak.
So when Tomlin finally stepped back on the mound Sunday in Detroit, allowing one run over 5 2/3 innings of an 11-1 win that pushed Cleveland's win streak to 11, Tomlin was elated to be back in the swing of things.

"It felt really good to get out there and compete and actually be a part of the team again," Tomlin said. "When you're on the DL for that long, you don't really forget what it's like to compete, but you kind of get that feeling when you get back out there. That adrenaline, that rush, it's a good feeling."

Tomlin scattered six hits and allowed just one walk en route to picking up the win in his return. He reported no signs of discomfort after throwing 74 pitches, which was about his average during July before the injury.
Tomlin admitted he did not feel crisp on the mound to begin the game. He thought he left some balls over the middle of the plate that the Tigers were hitting on the screws, but he praised his defense for backing him up.
"At that point, especially when they give you a three-run cushion early on, your job is to go out there and throw strikes," Tomlin said. "And how they were playing with how my stuff wasn't very crisp, it was one of those things where you hope they put the ball in play and let the defense work."
Amid the 11-game win streak, Tomlin bolsters what had already been a humming rotation over the past few weeks. Manager Terry Francona is happy to add him back to his staff -- with fellow starter Danny Salazar set to make his return from the DL on Tuesday.
"I think [Tomlin] felt like he was kind of fighting through some command [issues] with his fastball, but I'll tell you what -- he knows how to pitch," Francona said. "He spins a breaking ball. I thought he located pretty well. We gave him a nice cushion and we know he's not going to go out there and walk guys, stuff like that."
