CHICAGO -- felt good after his bullpen session on Saturday, but the Cubs have yet to announce when the right-hander will return to the rotation.
Arrieta threw 42 pitches in Saturday's workout, and gave a positive report to manager Joe Maddon. The two were expected to talk with pitching coach Chris Bosio on Sunday to map out the next step. If Arrieta gets the go-ahead, the right-hander could start three more regular-season games, beginning with the Cubs' series against the Brewers, which starts Thursday.
Arrieta has been sidelined since he strained his right hamstring on Sept. 4.
will open the Cubs' Interleague series on Tuesday against the Rays. Wednesday's starter has not been announced.
Worth noting
• Reliever said he was "back to normal" on Sunday after a workout. Rondon has been bothered by inflammation in his right elbow and has not pitched since Sept. 8.
