Marisnick loses appeal on 2-game suspension

July 29th, 2019

HOUSTON -- Astros outfielder lost the appeal of his two-game suspension and fine, and he will have to sit out Houston’s games Tuesday and Wednesday against the Indians in Cleveland. The Astros will play with 24 players on their roster for those two games.

Marisnick was suspended and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball on July 11 after he collided with Angels catcher Jonathan Lucroy at home plate on July 7 in Houston. Marisnick had his appeal heard last week.

Marisnick maintained he did not intentionally initiate contact with Lucroy in a violent collision that resulted in a concussion and a fractured nose for the Angels catcher.
