Right-hander screamed in anger and pain when leaving the mound at the end of the third inning of Sunday’s matchup with the Rockies at Coors Field.

Jones took an 87.9 mph comebacker off his right elbow, heading for the dugout and not returning after 45 pitches. Jones was activated from the 60-day injured list on May 29 after undergoing surgery to repair the right UCL in May of 2025.

Against the Rockies, Jones started hot, needing just seven pitches to retire the side in order in the first. He loaded the bases with no outs in the second but allowed only one run to cross. Jones' day was done after the third inning, replaced by Yohan Ramírez.

The Pirates led, 2-1, when Jones exited after a two-run homer from Nick Gonzales in the top of the fourth inning.
