PHILADELPHIA -- Jose Bautista was removed from Thursday night's 13-2 victory over the Phillies in the seventh inning because of left big toe soreness and he was sent for precautionary X-rays.
Bautista jammed his toe into the base of the right field wall when he tried to make a catch in the bottom of the seventh. Philadelphia's Cameron Rupp hit a deep fly ball over his head and Bautista crashed into the wall after attempting to make the grab.
"I'm not sure yet, I think he just jammed it," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said when asked for an update after the game.
Bautista declined to speak with the media and said that he preferred to talk Friday afternoon after he finds out the severity of his injury.

The injury was not related to the right thigh soreness that kept Bautista out of three games late last week. The veteran slugger returned to Toronto's lineup as a designated hitter on Monday and then returned to right field Wednesday night in Philadelphia.
Blue Jays trainer George Poulis immediately ran onto the field once the play came to an end. By the time Poulis reached the outfield, Bautista was walking slowly towards the dugout and he appeared to be in a significant amount of pain.
Infielder Ryan Goins moved to right field with Bautista out of the game while Darwin Barney shifted over to shortstop. Devon Travis then entered the game to play second base. Travis promptly hit a solo shot in the top of the eighth.
