Kelly exits with wrist injury, X-rays negative

April 6th, 2019

DENVER -- Dodgers right-hander left Friday's 10-6 victory with a right wrist injury after the first batter he faced, Charlie Blackmon, hit a liner back to the mound. X-rays conducted after the game were negative, according to the Dodgers.

Kelly, who came on to pitch the ninth inning with the Dodgers leading, 10-4, knocked down the liner and threw Blackmon out. But he was obviously in pain, and out came manager Dave Roberts and a trainer. They determined that Kelly could not continue.

Right-hander Yimi Garcia came in to take over.

Kelly signed a three-year, $25 million contract in the offseason to be the setup man for closer Kenley Jansen. But in his first two appearances, both Dodgers losses, Kelly allowed six earned runs and two homers in three innings.
