MINNEAPOLIS -- His first day off of the season clearly did wonders for Astros second baseman José Altuve.
Altuve, who sat out Monday's series opener at Target Field after playing in 202 consecutive games, went 4-for-4 in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Twins to push his streak of reaching base safely on the road to 39 games. It's the seventh time this season he's had four hits in a game, six of which have come on the road.
"He looked refreshed," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "I don't think he ever has too much of a bad day. But he came out with some fresh legs and the normal swing that he has. He's just continuing a remarkable season and doing just about everything you could ask out of a player."
Altuve is hitting an MLB-best .361 this season, including .429 on the road. Since May 1, he's batting .493 away from home, and in 15 road games since June 25, he's hitting .522.
"I feel great," Altuve said. "I tried to come back and get back to my routine, and obviously it was a great game today. I feel like everybody contributed to the win, and those games like this get us on track."
Altuve singled and scored in the first inning, singled and stole second in the fourth inning, singled and scored in the sixth and had an RBI single in the seventh. He was on deck when Alex Bregman made the final out of the ninth inning, meaning he'll have to wait for another shot at that elusive fifth hit in a game.
All four of his hits were up the middle.
"I was trying just to get good pitches to hit," he said. "I hit a couple of pitches out of the zone, but I was just trying to put it in play and make Carlos [Correa] behind me do his job. Obviously, he had a monster night today. Four RBIs is big for the win."
