TORONTO -- Jose Bautista didn't have much to do during Friday night during the Blue Jays' 7-5 win over the Red Sox, so he decided to try his hand at a new job: Public address announcer.
Bautista wasn't eligible to play against the Red Sox because he was serving a one-game suspension, so instead he got behind the microphone for Kevin Pillar's at-bat in the fourth inning.
Toronto's veteran outfielder wore a No. 7 Raptors jersey in honor of Kyle Lowry, who was playing a couple of blocks away at the Air Canada Centre in Game 6 of the NBA's Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavaliers.
"Now batting, No. 11, Kevin 'I catch everything' Pillar," Bautista announced before putting his hands up in the air to acknowledge the crowd before stepping aside.
Bautista eventually made his way to the Air Canada Centre, and he was sitting courtside with P. K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens. Unfortunately, the Raptors were eliminated from the playoffs in a 113-87 loss.
Bautista was required to sit out the series opener after Major League Baseball upheld its one-game suspension for his role in the dugouts-clearing altercation with the Rangers on May 15.
