DENVER -- fouled a 3-2 fastball from Rockies reliever D.J. Johnson off the inside of his lower right leg in the ninth inning of the Nationals' 6-3 win over Colorado on Tuesday night. He went down hard, and both manager Dave Martinez and head athletic trainer Dale Gilbert went out to check on him.

Soto eventually finished the plate appearance, taking the next pitch high for a bases-loaded walk to bring in Washington's fifth run.

"I'm going to check, but he's going to be a little sore," Martinez said. "He smoked himself pretty good. But I'm assuming he's going to be OK. He got up and said he was fine."

landed awkwardly after leaping to catch a high throw from third baseman Howie Kendrick on Mark Reynolds' ground ball that ended the fifth inning. He remained in the game, going 1-for-3 with a single and a walk.

"Zim, we'll see how he feels tomorrow," Martinez said. "He did come down awkward, so we'll see how he feels."
