MLB's Players of the Month for June should come as no surprise for fans: Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, and Nationals slugger Kyle Schwarber. 

 Ohtani was named the American League Player of the Month presented by Chevrolet on Friday, and Schwarber was named the National League Player of the Month presented by Chevrolet. 

Ohtani batted .309/.423/.889 with 13 home runs and a 1.312 OPS as a hitter in June … and picked up two more wins as a pitcher, with three quality starts in five outings and his second double-digit strikeout game of the season. 

Ohtani's 13 homers in June led the AL, and he now leads MLB with 28 for the season. His .889 slugging percentage and 1.312 OPS both led the Majors.

Schwarber crushed 16 home runs during the month, leading the Majors. Twelve of those homers came in a 10-game span from June 19-29, tying Albert Belle in 1995 for the most home runs in any 10-game span in MLB history.

All 16 of his home runs in June came in an 18-game span, tying the record set by Sammy Sosa in 1998 and matched by Barry Bonds in 2001.

This is the first career Player of the Month Award for both Ohtani and Schwarber. The Angels' most recent winner was Mike Trout in September 2018, and the Nationals' most recent recipient of the honor was Ryan Zimmerman in April 2017.
