Power to all Fields? NFL QB tees off at Wrigley

June 9th, 2022

Justin Fields’ baseball days might be over, but the Chicago Bears quarterback can still mash.

With the Cubs on their way to New York for a three-game series against the Yankees, Fields and the Bears paid a visit to Wrigley Field on Thursday. Along with a tour of the Friendly Confines, the players got a chance to take some batting practice, which is when Fields stepped to the plate and crushed multiple home runs, as captured on video by his teammates.

While Fields’ teammates might seem a bit surprised by their quarterback’s sweet swing, perhaps they shouldn’t be. Fields, after all, starred at shortstop and second baseman at Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Ga., and was ranked by Perfect Game as the No. 237 player in the Class of 2018. Although he decided to stick to football, there were discussions about Fields playing baseball upon transferring from Georgia to Ohio State in 2019.

It’s safe to say Fields -- the No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft -- made the right decision. But should he ever decide to give baseball another try, at least he has some tape out there.
