Upton getting PRP treatment for knee injury

September 19th, 2019

NEW YORK -- Angels outfielder traveled back to Anaheim on Thursday to receive a platelet-rich plasma injection, according to manager Brad Ausmus.

The procedure will take place Friday to address patella tendinitis in Upton’s right knee. Upton has been having problems with the knee dating back to Spring Training.

Upton had a season he would like to forget in 2019. He also dealt with a toe injury that kept him out for more than two months. Upton managed to play in 63 games this season, hitting .215 with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs.

Upton joined the Angels in a trade that sent right-handers Elvin Rodriguez and Grayson Long to the Tigers on Aug. 31, 2017.
