JUPITER, Fla. -- Just like that, the first week of Spring Training is done.

Sandy Alcantara and Jazz Chisholm Jr. faced off in live batting practice. New manager Skip Schumaker had a popular food truck cater lunch. Alcantara gifted Jacob Stallings a Cartier watch for catching every pitch of his National League Cy Young Award-winning season. Mentorships have begun. 

Miami's first full-squad workout will take place Tuesday at the Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium complex, with the Grapefruit League opener scheduled for Saturday against the Mets in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Earlier in the week, general manager Kim Ng met with the media to discuss the offseason, the state of the division and more.

How did the Hot Stove acquisitions compare to the wish list?

Ng: I would say middle of the road, and I think that's for every general manager. I think the offseason has its ups and downs, and you might not necessarily get your No. 1 pick of your prep list in a particular area. But you might get that one somewhere else. And then I think you have to look at it in its totality. Again, I think we did fairly well.

How much do you keep track of what the other National League East teams did?

Ng: I think we have to really just pay attention to ourselves and just play our game. That doesn't change, and we can't control any of that. We can only control what we control.

Can we anticipate any more moves during Spring Training like in 2022?

Ng: It ain't over till it's over. Sometimes things just fall into your lap. I think that's our job. … We have to be open-minded, and we always have to be trying to improve the club. Our door's open for business.
