SAN DIEGO -- Despite his recent hot streak, Padres outfielder Jon Jay is still outside the top 15 National League outfielders in the most recent Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot update, which was released by Major League Baseball on Wednesday.
Jay entered play Wednesday having hit .365 (23-for-63) over his last 14 games and was leading the NL with 19 doubles, posting a .296/.344/.404 slash line while playing center field and leading off.
In addition to Jay, Matt Kemp and Wil Myers are both players whom San Diego manager Andy Green says deserve some thought on NL All-Star ballots. No Padres were among the top five at their respective positions.
"I think you're seeing Matt Kemp and Wil Myers start to heat up," Green said. "I know they both went through some rough Mays, but [you're] seeing them start to really swing the bats well right now. Matt's looking at 14 home runs and 42 RBIs -- he's [near] the league leaders in both those categories right now.
"So I think those guys are worthy of consideration."
While Jay, Kemp and Myers need a surge in the voting to play in the All-Star Game presented by MasterCard at their home ballpark -- Petco Park -- on July 12, Green argues that two of his players should be locks for the game.

"I think [Drew Pomeranz is] right there and I think Fernando Rodney would be hard to ignore right now," Green said. "I'm not sure what you could ask [Rodney] to do more than he's done at this point in time.
"I think both those guys are very much deserving of an All-Star bid right now. … To me, our two pitchers should be locks, in my mind, but I'm probably pretty partial."
Green, who accepted an offer from Mets manager Terry Collins to help coach the NL All-Star team, said he would offer input if asked, but was just grateful to be involved in the game.
"I'm excited to do it," Green said. "It's very humbling, in a sense, because everybody in that dugout has done something -- the whole Mets staff, they won the National League last year, every guy that's on the All-Star team has earned that. I'm in here by the fact that I'm managing the San Diego Padres, which is a great thing to be [doing].
"But the home team manager, you want to be a part of it, so I'm very thankful."
