MILWAUKEE -- The Dodgers will need more moments like these from Manny Machado in the National League Championship Series.
Machado crushed a solo home run in the second inning and hit a two-out, two-run single in the eighth as the Dodgers scored three runs to cut the Brewers' lead before losing, 6-5, in Game 1 on Friday night at Miller Park.
The home run, Machado's third of the postseason, came off a 2-0 changeup from Milwaukee left-hander Giovany Gonzalez, who had allowed six hits in 18 previous at-bats against Machado.
Dress for NLCS: Get Dodgers postseason gear
It was just the second time this year Machado homered off a changeup. The ball left his bat at 115.6 mph, making it the third-hardest-hit postseason homer since Statcast™ began tracking in 2015.

"Just facing him quite a bit, in that situation, I know he's not going to give me a heater," Machado said. "He's probably going to go to his best pitch, and I was able to sit on it. It was probably one of the best swings I've made all year."
The Dodgers acquired Machado from the Orioles in July. He played the part of big Trade Deadline acquisition in Game 1, even if it wasn't enough to get Los Angeles over the top.
"We know we're as good as them," Machado said about the Brewers. "We've just got to settle down, take it back and play baseball like we've played all year."
