Mo coaches Jimmy Fallon through 1st pitch

September 22nd, 2021

Do you think Mariano Rivera will teach Jimmy Fallon how to throw a cutter?

The unanimous Hall of Famer accompanied “The Tonight Show” host to the Yankee Stadium mound prior to the Yankees' 7-1 win over the Rangers on Tuesday night. Fallon was on hand to throw out the night’s ceremonial first pitch -- although he appeared to momentarily try to convince Rivera into taking the ball instead.

Rivera politely declined, but took the opportunity to convince Fallon to make his pitch from the full 60 feet, 6 inches on the pitching rubber, instead of in front of the mound where he initially set up.

Fallon ultimately unleashed a high throw to the plate before embracing Rivera, who is scheduled to be a part of Fallon’s late-night show on Thursday. As they walked back toward the Yankees’ dugout, the duo autographed a baseball that Fallon tossed into the crowd.
