Mariners' Spring Training report dates announced

SEATTLE -- The first workout of Mariners pitchers and catchers under new manager Scott Servais will be Feb. 20 at the club's complex in Peoria, Ariz., as Major League Baseball announced the Spring Training workout schedule for all 30 teams on Monday.
Mariners pitchers and catchers will report for physical exams on Friday, Feb. 19, and take the field for the first time the following day.
Position players must report for their physicals on Feb. 24, and the first full-squad workout will be on Feb. 25.

Cactus League play opens on March 2 for the Mariners when they face the Padres at 12:10 p.m. PT in the annual charity game at Peoria Stadium.

The Mariners open the regular season on Monday, April 4, at Texas, with their home opener at Safeco Field slated for Friday, April 8, at 7:10 p.m. PT against the A's. Newly-elected Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. will throw out the first pitch at the home opener.
