August 17th, 2019

DENVER -- The Marlins provided updates on several injured players prior to Friday's series opener with the Rockies at Coors Field.

Right-hander , on the injured list with a right shoulder strain, was scheduled make a rehab start for Triple-A New Orleans on Friday night in San Antonio. Lopez has been out since mid-June, sidelined for the second time with the same issue; a shoulder strain also cut short his 2018 campaign at the end of August.

In three rehab starts with Double-A Jacksonville, Lopez struggled, posting a 21.60 ERA. The 23-year-old has a 4.23 ERA in 14 starts for the Marlins this season, after posting a 4.14 ERA in 10 starts last year.

Meanwhile, reliever (right middle finger blister) is playing catch from flat ground. Jose Urena (back), who will likely rejoin the Marlins as a reliever, was scheduled to pitch one inning in a rehab appearance with Class A Advanced Jupiter on Friday. Reliever (right elbow inflammation) is undergoing therapy and has not resumed throwing. There is still no timetable for his return.

As for position players, shortstop (strained right hamstring) has resumed baseball activities that include running, and catcher (concussion) has also resumed baseball activities.
