JUPITER, Fla. -- The Marlins scored four runs in ninth and tied the Cardinals, 9-9, when Brian Anderson scored on a wild pitch.
Until the Marlins' late rally, the Cardinals were in command as Adam Wainwright set the tempo with four strong innings. Efficient and economical sum up Wainwright's third Grapefruit League start, as the veteran allowed one run in four innings.
Matt Adams belted a home run and drove in two. Tommy Pham had a two-run single in a three-run fourth inning, and Paul DeJong connected on a three-run homer in the seventh inning.
Marcell Ozuna and Matt den Dekker each had solo home runs for Miami.
Wainwright scattered four hits, walked two and struck out three, with his afternoon ending after 58 pitches. He got out of the third inning after Ichiro Suzuki singled and Ozuna bounced into a double play.
Marlins right-hander Tom Koehler was charged with five runs in three-plus innings, striking out five, and finishing with 74 pitches.
"I need to be better," Koehler said. "I expect a lot out of myself. I feel like if we want to get to where we're hoping to go, I'm going to be a big part of it. I need to get the ship going in the right direction."
In the first inning, Wainwright was charged with an earned run. Dee Gordon singled and scored on Ozuna's sacrifice fly.
The Cardinals responded in the second inning on Adams' two-out home run.
