Holliday hits tiebreaking homer against Cards
DENVER -- Matthew Holliday (Holliday) broke a scoreless tie against the Cardinals in the bottom of the seventh Saturday, doing what he was signed to do -- change the game with a swing of his bat.

Holliday hit an 0-1 pitch 448 feet into the left-field bleachers at Coors Field -- a no-doubter from the moment he made contact during the Rockies' 9-1 win.

It was just the third hit of the game for the Rockies, and came with two out and nobody on. Holliday pinch-hit for starting pitcher German Marquez, who threw seven innings of three-hit shutout ball, allowing one walk while striking out nine.

It was Holliday's second pinch-hit in as many days. His fifth-inning single to center the night before sparked a five-run rally that brought the Rockies within two after trailing 7-0.
