Jurado will be the first Ranger to make his big league debut with a start since Chi Chi Gonzalez on May 30, 2015. The 22-year-old compiled a 1-1 record with a 2.57 ERA in six starts for Frisco this season, holding opponents to a .233 batting average with eight walks and 18 strikeouts. Jurado recorded quality starts in each of his last four outings, posting a 1.71 ERA in that span.

As for Moore's future, manager Jeff Banister said on Saturday the "best scenario" would be for Moore to return to the rotation once he is eligible to come off the disabled list. As for the knee soreness, Banister said the discomfort in the knee has been "off and on" throughout the season and was something the Rangers were aware of coming into Spring Training.

"We felt it got to the point to where would give him time to calm down and, in the meantime, [he would] miss a start and continue to work on things," Banister said.

Banister would not commit to keeping Jurado in the rotation beyond Saturday and said it is probably best for the youngster to make some pitches at the Major League level.

Hamels update

Rangers starter Cole Hamels continues to deal with neck stiffness, but the plan calls for him be able to pitch on Tuesday against the Yankees, according to Banister. Hamels was scratched from his start on Thursday with the neck stiffness, which surfaced on Wednesday.

Banister said on Friday that Hamels was doing much better and that he likely could return to the mound against the Yankees.
