Olson's massive HR puts pressure on Astros
August 29th, 2018
HOUSTON -- Seeking a bounce-back performance following Monday's series-opening loss to the Astros, the A's were aided by a three-run homer off the bat of Matt Olson in the third inning of Tuesday night's eventual 4-3 victory at Minute Maid Park.
Olson's 24th blast of the season, coming on an 0-1 curveball from right-hander Charlie Morton, gave the A's a 3-1 lead behind Edwin Jackson.
Morton recorded two quick outs to begin the third, before walking Jed Lowrie on seven pitches -- the A's second baseman also drew a nine-pitch walk in the first -- and hitting Khris Davis with a pitch.
The A's used the long ball to jump out to an early four-run lead Monday, before they yielded 11 unanswered runs.
